About Cerritos Beach
Playa Los Cerritos is the open secret of the Los Cabos region — a genuinely beautiful Pacific beach with consistent surf, a sandy bottom ideal for beginners, excellent beachside food and drink, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels like the Cabo of 20 years ago. It sits on Highway 19 between Cabo San Lucas and Todos Santos, about 45 minutes north of Casa de Corona.
The Pacific swell rolls in with remarkable consistency — long, peeling left and right waves breaking on a sandy bottom, making wipeouts soft and the learning curve forgiving. The local surf schools have produced hundreds of first-time surfers who didn't think they could do it.
Beyond surfing, Cerritos is simply a beautiful place to spend a beach day. The Pacific coast light is different — more dramatic, with bigger skies, rougher surf sounds, and a raw quality that gives the landscape a different kind of power. Combine it with Todos Santos just 15 minutes further north for a perfect full day on Baja's Pacific side.
Combine Cerritos with Todos Santos just 15 minutes north — surf in the morning, art galleries and farm-to-table lunch in town. A perfect full day from Casa de Corona.

Take a Surf Lesson
Cerritos is widely regarded as the best beginner surf break in the Los Cabos region. The sandy bottom means gentle wipeouts, long rolling waves give beginners time to find their footing, and the water temperature is comfortable year-round. Lessons run 1.5–2 hours including board and rash guard rental, approximately $60–$80 per person. Experienced instructors speak English and work with all ages.
Body Boarding and Board Rentals
For those not ready to stand up, boogie boards are a spectacular way to experience the Cerritos waves — rental boards available on the beach for ~$10–$15/hour. The inside section creates fast, powerful rides requiring no prior experience. One of the best family beach activities in the Los Cabos region at a fraction of the beach club prices.
Beach Lunch at Mario's
Mario's beachfront restaurant is one of the better-kept secrets of the Los Cabos food scene. Fresh grilled fish, cold shrimp tacos, and ice-cold beer while watching the surf roll in and the Pacific breeze keeps you comfortable. Expect $15–$30/person for a full lunch with drinks — a fraction of Medano Beach club prices.
Watch the Pacific Sunset
Because Cerritos faces west onto the Pacific, it offers genuine Pacific sunsets — the sun dropping directly into the ocean, impossible from the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula. Arrive by 4pm, surf through the afternoon, and stay for the sunset. One of the best evenings in Baja.
